Well today I was hunting something a bit different,...Mangoes.
Even though I was doing that I still have a view to negotiate with the fellow to see if I can detect a bit of his property,...I'll start by seeing if I can remove any lead contamination from under the old(and big) mangoe tree, and go on from there after that(I still haven't met this fellow,..only negotiated through his son in law, whom I've also never met, and I've only ever spoke to him on the phone as well).
And I left the alcohol inside the gate(as it was early),...amazing what you can achieve without actualy meeting anybody in person(must admit I have kissed the blarney stone when a young fellow though).
So anyway I went out this morning and swapped the alcohol for mangoes(all the mangoes I've gotten this season are the
Bowen variety,...nothing but the best).
If only I'd a thought a head and had home brew ready to swap(darn)
we were up at 4:30am and home by 6:30am.
My two boys are now exboxing till it's time to dry and wrap the mangoes for ripening.
the Mrs is still in bed(not mine)
the mangoes are soaking in the tub for 1/2 hour to get the sap off
Here is a box(1 of 2) wrapped and ripening(almost ready) for eating and freezing,..nothing like eating ripe mangoe freshly thawed in june(these are not the ones in the tub).
they may not look as good as the ones in the shop that cost $20 a tray,...but they taste just as good(if not nicer) and my tray is twice as big($40 worth),..and I will now have at least six of them ripening up after we finish wrapping this lot.
Son says we should make mango wine(and I totally agree) in the demijohn.
and the good thing is it only cost time and $20 worth of alcohol.
And did I mention that I've already(just lately) passed around another three of these super large trays amongst family and friends.
And the best thing of all is,.....I'm doing this with my two boys(urban adventure) and that in itself is priceless(they are great lads).
