Just a very short outing last night, not a lot around just mainly pesky bottlecaps, though the 1916 shilling and only my second ever old SA dog tag were the highlights. The dog tag is a bit worse for wear, dated 1929, the half penny was from 1961.

Pity the dog tag had a bit of coin cancer, they usually look real good cleaned up with the cool coat of arms.

Harsh soil life for the dog tag,.... lucky you pulled it out of the ground now, it wouldn't look as nice after another hundred years.

Just a quick detect today at a regular old coin spot. You have to be very thorough to find anything of worth here, most coins are from 1870's - 1880's. After not having much luck gridding up some ground, I started to hit on a few buttons & shotgun cartridges on the way back to the car. Nearby a sweet mellow high tone revealed a very worn 1870's? Victorian sixpence, more gridding of the sixpence location didn't turn up any more signals, so packed it in for the arvo.

The missus allowed me an early birthday present today, so I picked up a Go-pro Hero3 hopefully for some future detecting clips. The bicycle handle mount seems to do the job for mounting on the detector shaft, though on 960p the ultra wide field of view can lead to some motion sickness watching the coil swing back and forth.

I also have the head & chest mount, so will have a play around to see which is most convenient.

Tonight I had one of my best coin spills this year, 5 silvers in the one hole - 3 florins, one 6p & one 3p - all happened just before thinking about heading off home. I was quite amazed when I saw a couple of coins pop out of the plug, thinking they may have been pennies, though on closer inspection two of them were florins, put the pinpointer back in the hole, one more florin and lastly the 6p. Pretty happy with that, I put the plug back in and re-scanned the spot, still another target. Popped the plug back out, and off to the side was the 3p. The florins were from 1952 & 2 x1953, 6p 1951 and 3p 1936.

The first good target for the night was actually the 1943 florin, things went pretty quiet after that before hitting most of the 3p's in an area previously hit with the Explorer. They included two very nice Victorian 3p from 1886 & 1876, plus three more from 1921, 1940 & 1943.

For the pennies there were a couple of Victorian 1896 & 1884 coins, and more modern ones from 1917, 1948 & 1943. The hp's were from 1913 & 1914.

No idea what the copper disk is, can't really make out any markings on it, also found some fob watch parts, but typically no case.

All up, a very fun night on the Deus.
