I've been hearing bad stuff about these cookers for years now, actually know people who've seen them explode.
I read an article not long back that claims that the fault was with some brands of gas cylinders.
However, NSW Fair Trading have banned sale of (a list of brand name) butane cookers and claim it's the cookers themselves that are dangerous.
What a bugger, they are handy little units. Glad I didn't punt the old LPG Cooker Ring

Check the list at the bottom of this Press Release to see if your cooker is on the banned list

Edited: Since posting this I've found the below article. Seems they've been banned in SA too!
Guessing it will go Nationwide soon.
