Thanks Mackka. All the stuff at the bottom will slowly rot away and provide energy to the soil. All i'm gunna do is ad some Dynamic lifter to the top layer os soil- not enough to hurt it it.. :)

EEE'E Lookout...... :p lookin great Jaros

That fert will help with the deep breakdown of the lower fibres Mackka, otherwise they might chew some nitrogen meant for an early start. Here's where we could gamble a little :D

I know a lot of people like cane mulch but i have found it creates mould and so i prefer 1st cut lucern mulch and it breaks down well.
Cheers
Mackka

Carolyn is lining the base of all 7 boxes with plenty of cardboard then after lunch she will lay the off cuts of the palm leaves and then the mowed over fronds to about 1/2 way up. The Sugar cane mulch is next followed by mushroom compost then soil with some Dynamic lifter soil improver and blood and bone mixed in with it. Then another layer of Sugar cane mulch. All of the this over a bed of sand which will even ensure better drainage.

So i planted the 518kg 'big boy' yesterday.
Any one have previous luck with giant pumpkins? Need all your secrets please. :playful:
no real special secret but I suggest you get it out of the pot and into the ground asap. I have never got a really big pumpkin from a pot grown one even after planting out.

That Triffid of mine

Three drops in.... and it does not taste like Vodka, or Medicine.
A nice enough taste to it.
Mrs S recons she needs to see me after a full 24hrs to evaluate before she will give it a go.
My Guinea piggin is not an instant taste type thing..... rather a if you don't drop dead sorta thing :D before she'll dive in to the deep end with me. :p

And that was yesterday :D

Got our 7 beds nearly ready-just have to top up 4 of them with topsoil. They all-7- of them have the base timber/sugar cane mulch, mushroom compost, garden mix with Dynamic Lifter, perlite, blood and bone. Just have to get some more sugar cane mulch.....getting nearer to completion. My lovely wife has done 99% of the heavy lifting. Love her

I'm going to rest mine a bit, and feed the biomass for a while..... until I feel like doing more, at least weeding will be minimal.

Are you going to handwater Jaros, or put a system in ?

Three Roma Tomato Plants have given me about 25 tomatoes over the last week, probably the same to come over the next week or two, not huge but tasty. Also doing carrots, which are just starting to pop up out of the ground. Put two potato halves in the earth the other but they rotted, try again!

Hi Silver. I will hand water because the planters are all quite close.2 or 3 steps holding the hose will be sufficient to do the whole area. The tap is only 10 mtrs from the garden. I have a 30 mtrs retractable hose at the back of the house. :)
