On this day in 1889, Sir Henry Parkes GCMG (1815-1896), delivered the famous Tenterfield Oration, effectively starting the Federation process in Australia. It was near the end of his political career that he made this speech which earned him the title of Father of Federation. He was also 5 times Premier of NSW.
 
On This Day In 2002 Irish actor-singer, Richard St John Francis Harris died, aged 72, in London. 🎥📽🎤💽 He was a wonderful actor and stared in so many great movies, my favourite was the 1970 movie A Man Called Horse, the scene where he was hanging from ropes attached to Eagles talons stuck through his breasts was amazing at the time.
 
Yesterday 25th October 1878, Three Police Officers were killed by the Kelly Gang. They were: Kennedy, Scanlon and Lonigan with the fourth being able to escape and inform the Authorities. His name was McIntyre. RIP.
 
On This Day in 1880, Ned Kelly was sentenced to death by judge Sir Redmond Barry. Ned Commented- " I dare say. But the day will come when we shall all have to go to a bigger court than this. Then we will see who was right and who was wrong."
