G'day Steve, stumbled upon this mine today and was wondering if you have been inside. There appears to be an air shaft about 100 metres away from the entrance. However, this could be part of another mine. Looking forward to catching up within the next month. Cheers Dean65.

i dont understand why Nat Parks or councils dont create a volunteer workers group to go around putting safety barriers around all those open shafts if they dont want to do it themselves.

i wouldnt use day release prison labour though coz that just shows them places to hide bodies ... lol

there is prolly a couple of thousand of them at a guesstimate ?

G'day Headsup,
I know your intentions are good ones but from what
I have seen in some place in the GT there can be hundreds
in of shafts in one patch of bush alone.
I don't believe that it could even be done as they are so
numerous.
Just keep your eyes open always when in the bush.
Cheers Steve ;)

Even without your name to those photos Dean,
I would recognise your work, nice pictures.
Keep it up mate.
Cheers Steve ;)

This is cool, really interesting to see whats down there.
You always hear those stories of "such and such chucked $5m down this shaft, gangsters chucked this bloke down the shaft", ever find anything suss/valuable/cool?

at a guess it would take me a day of digging with the tools they had just to get 2 metres in a tunnel with rock like that , now consider how many tonnes of rock they had to take out ....

and what was the hit rate , 59 holes out of 60 were duffers with nil return ?

Great mine, isn't it
I was with hty when we found this one
Just watch out for the wombats and the tiger snakes
Last time I was there at that shaft on the log was a small tiger snake

Great thread with amazing pic's, the video footage earlier on had me gritting my teeth through some of it. I'm getting addicted to reading everything on this forum site as it's incredible what's out there to see, keep up the great work.

lol yeah I remember that I almost put my dam hand on it lol and that poor wombat falling 15ms onto a level/platform below that and survived I still remember when the vet went down the stope to get it and it was not happy but we did end up getting him out and the vet said he was fine not a scratch on it lol even when we let it go outside of the mine it went running full steam down the hill and the vet said there is clearly nothing wrong with that wombat even tho it fell 15meters onto a old wood platform

Hi mate,
looks a lot like the mining here from Brazil

Ballarat. Found a new tunnel on Saturday. A drive descends sideways into an old deep shaft emerging about 15 feet from the bottom.

There is another drive under this level directly below not seen by the camera. We were not able to explore this tunnel, but will do so next time.

Looking up the shaft towards the surface.
