I just got this in my email, looks like the third party coil manufacturers are starting to produce coils for the CTX machines:

NEW CTX COIL by COILTEK!
We are very excited to announce we will be producing a 10x5" Fully Submersible CTX coil fully approved by Minelab!

looks like a good coil. id like to give it a shot before i would make the buy

I purchased my CTX as a general purpose detector, but have found it lacks any real guts in the outback, which I knew it would. Is a coil going to improve this at all or is it better just to get a SDC ?

I am finding I am not getting out for general parks etc... and only when I go bush so makes more sense to have a detector suited to the use. I normally hire a GPX5000 but if this improved the ability in the bush, then it may be sufficient as back up for certain areas. Any thoughts or comments re new coil and improvements for the outback WA ?
