Hi All,
I've been meaning to register for a while now and kept chickening out, so after meeting Trent (Diggerdude) and Dave on Saturday at Tuena I thought I'd introduce myself and my nine year old son who loves to dig. My name is Geoff and my son's name is Jarryn (Chook or Jazy). We've mainly been gold panning with our buddy Jimmy (Goldbug), who has taught us heaps. We've been to Mongarlowe, Grabben Gullen, Tuena, Shoalhaven, Sunny Corner and Oberon. My in-laws live near Bathurst, so the Turon is our next place we'd like to visit. I also love trout fishing, so any river with trout and gold in it, I'd be in heaven.
On Saturday we took our river sluice which I'd converted to a homemade highbanker to Tuena, a big thanks to Trent and Dave for helping us with the waterpump, as we couldn't get it to suck up any water. Unfortunately once Dave got the pump working my highbanker didn't work very well as the hoppers legs werent high enough and it got blocked to easy. So we ended up only getting one chunky piece of gold. So its back to the drawing board to redesign the hopper box, with longer and stronger hopper supports.
Thanks again to Trent and Dave, without your help we wouldn't have been able to even try the highbanker out.
Cheers
Geoff and Jarryn.
