well found Kawman,.... interesting price on that one as well,.... I had never seen one of those until I gently lifted it from mother earths dirty grip.

If I'm right it's a To Hard War Token from the civil war times in America nice find very rare.

It's a Victoria to Hanover gaming token, very unique find.

I think it is about the same size as a 1/4 penny,... only spotted it by accident in my photos, I thought it was a two cent,... so I don't even know the exact location that it was found during the hunt,... still happy to have it as it is my oldest coin ever.

No probs, is the other side pretty worn, or is it just similar to the front? Hmm, to clean or not clean - they are not worth a hell of a lot (more as a sentimental find), but I know you like to keep some of your coins in as found condition.

1837 Victoria Gaming Token.






This is as cleaned as it will ever be(by me at least).

The detail looks much more prominent in those pics, pretty good nick for its age. Would be interesting to know how it managed to find its way to Oz, keepsake maybe?

Australia was only about 60-70 years into colonisation by then(1837), but it could have arrived at anytime after that date,.. keepsake I would agree,.. back then who wouldn't want a coin like that with a pretty 18 year old Queen on it, with George and the dragon thrown in on the other side it must have been a great keepsake to have GP, and they must have cherished it as it looks like it was lost in near new condition,... I bet the search was on for it back then, all to no avail though as it is now in my hands.
