This is Jacks, the new member of the family. He's a rescue dog and is naughty as hell but very lovable.

The handle covering on each side is a layer of bone about 1.5mm thick.....same as yours?

Those pocket knives were used by pipe smokers to clean the bowl out . My grandfather had one , he smoked Erinemore ? in the UK.

He's a little ripper! Now if I can just get him to be this obedient when I'm not holding a piece of cheese!
This knife has a wooden handle and the closest thing I can find online is made by Barlow, an English company that has been around since the 1700s. They are still making pocket knives today.
 
Think it's part of a pocket watch case, marked SD&Co, fine silver on the back. There was a watchmaker called Stuart Dawson around at about the right time so maybe one of his.
