I managed to get back out
To spot I went to Sunday for a few hrs for
A British three pence and 5 small nuggets for

And today's first target was another British three pence
And no small bits of gold today



Not sure what's in the speci
Dry 20.45
Wet 17.14
Ill have a guess :D
Bout 11.8 grams

I'll be over your way on Saturday. I'll give ya a ring tomorrow sometime. Won't be able to go detecting though 8.( - on school holiday duties ;)

Excellent results there Lbg, here's a formula for working out the amount of gold in your specimen :-

First you need to work out the overall density of your gold - qtz specimen ( D )

D = Dry weight / ( dry weight - submerged weight )

Then you work out the percentage of gold in the specimen :-

% Au = (1.15 x D) -3.03 / D

From the info you have given, I calculate about 13.5 gms wt of gold in your specimen.
