Port Hedland Storm Surge

Hmmm found this on the DFES site, its the Port Hedland Storm Surge Model. Looks like they are predicting close to 8 meters.

Not looking good for Port Hedland if it is true, hope it does not eventuate and they are wrong.

Port Hedland is effectively built on an island
It wont be the first storm surge or the last
When I lived in Hedland my neighbor told stories
of turning up at The Pier in tinnies and standing kneedeep
in water at the bar those times were different
There is a 2 or 3 m bund wall around the airport
Karratha has a 5 or 6 bund wall around the entire township these are all blended in to look natural

The authorities are always worried when big tides and cyclones meet
not a good
Now it is a waiting game to see what happens
