There has been heightened solar activity for the past week, with coronal ejection alerts still active, though nothing like it was back in September.
I use the following link to check solar activity before heading out: http://www.sws.bom.gov.au/Geophysical/2/1
One of the good things about using a speaker is that you can tell when EMI is associated with aircraft transmissions and wait for the aircraft to leave the area. Last weekend they were a constant nuisance in the GT- maybe extra flights for the spring racing.
Leave your smart phone in the car .. the warmer weather always seems to increase EMI , i think its something to do with the difference in night and day temperatures imo.
It is also storm season. Every other day here seems to be forecasting possible thunderstorms & at this time of year the afternoon build up can have effects even if it is blue skies above.
Lightning crackles for me today although blue skies as far as the eye can see. Told the family when I got home that there must be a heap of lightning somewhere and they laughed at me.
But sure enough Jane Bunn pops up her lightning tracker and the eldest pipes up "hey dad, you were right"
When will they learn
