I have been collecting / saving jewellery for a little while now (mainly silver) with the intention of melting it down when I have enough. Many years ago my wife and I cashed in some gold jewellery and I think we ended up with $100 for what I would now consider a fairly decent amount of gold, being naive about its worth we took the money and ran.

Nowadays I wouldnt take precious metals to any those "we buy gold" stalls you see popping up in the malls as most are simply trying to pull the wool over unsuspecting Australians who arent educated in the true value or potential of precious metals. Also they dont pay for stones, so if you have a $10,000 rock in a gold ring they are only going to give you what "they" think the scrap metal value of the ring is.

Josh87, I just checked out that link you posted and it does seem legit, they have 22,500 likes on Facebook so they must be alright.
