I went fossicking to Tingha in NSW (near Inverell and Copeton) a couple of years ago and found this crystal out in the middle of nowhere in a creek bed. I only just found it again and was wondering if anyone knows what it is? At first i thought it was a piece of glass but there was no other glass or rubbish around where i was and its to thick to be glass. Any ideas?

Hey Cracka,

Looks like a nice lump of quartz to me. Its definitely not glass. I have found plenty of it near Glenn Innes.

Do the specific gravity test and if it comes in at 2.6 quartz it is.

Cheers

Thanks guys. Will look up how to do a specific gravity test and test it but it sure looks like a few of those shots of the clear quartz. Also got some grass stone (i think they call it rutilated quartz or something like that).
