Hi Guys
Have you had any experience with Arterial flutter or Afib.
I had been living with both for several years but last year I started to get a lot of pressure in my front deltoids and neck when doing anything strenuous. It got to the point where I had to stay still and wait until the pressure just suddenly released..Long story short, the blood was filling the heart quicker than it would drain and the pressure feeling was the heart expanding...Doctor couldn't believe I never had a stroke..Had an ablation 4 weeks ago over 100 burns and 2.5 hrs on the table it hurt like hell and for 2 days afterwards was in a lot of pain but it was almost completely gone by the 3rd day..
I now feel 25 yrs old and cant feel any palpitations and back to some hard training...
Totally recommend the ablation if you fit the category. :) :perfect:

Smoky, glad to hear it went well for you and you are on the mend. As a result of a serious infection of the heart lining caused by bacterial pneumonia I have an ectopic heartbeat, wrong chamber fires prematurely, 99% of the time I don't even notice it but when i do it's usually a real kick in the chest and causes some lightheadedness on some occasions. I'm told my ticker, skips, up to 300 times a day but they will not consider ablation until it's in the 2000 per day range. Have been able to control it somewhat with beta blockers.
Once again glad to hear it all went well.

Cheers Manpa.
I started on flecanide 50mg and a year later went to 100mg then 6months later went to 100mg twice a day .
In the end even that was not controlling it..So Ablation was really only option.Hope you get yours sorted as it feels so good to have a normal heart rythem again. :Y:

I just had an ablation done 5 weeks ago for SVT, where your rate can instantly start beating between 180 - 300 BPM. On the table for three and a half hours. Was told it would be two. He couldn't get it all as the nerve was too close to one of the nodes. Just got to wait and see.

I'd had it for thirty years but it wasn't diagnosed until last year when a mate called an ambulance because he thought I was going to cark it after a big fishing trip. I tell ya, it puts trawling for Spanish mackerel on another level.

It was quite unnerving hearing the monitor beeping away as he was burning the nerve only interrupted by the other specialist yelling 'Stop!' :argh: :brokenh:
Funny thing is I felt no pain afterwards apart from the groin which wasn't to bad. Didn't need pain killers at all.

Hope ya doing well now mate..Alot of people said they felt no pain for SVT ablation..
Even the nurse said to me while I was on the table you wont feel anything cause your heart has no nerve endings...Well 1 minute later the doc leans over and says we are about to start..(they keep you awake throughout the whole process) and you will feel a heavy burning in your chest and some strong pain in your right shoulders..Wtf I was thinking..Dont panic this is totally normal he says....Then he said we will burn in 60 second bursts then give you a 15 second break....I was starting to worry by this stage as your arms are tied to the table and a strap over your body to hold you still..I feel I have a high pain tolorence but I wish they gave me a stick to bite on .But they did say the electrical pathways looked like a spiders web so there was a lot of burning. :Y:

Phwar! I suppose you cant believe everything you see on the interweb :(

Ha! Forgot about that weird burning and pressure sensation already. I remember thinking the same thing. I thought well this what it's like being cooked from the inside out and also opted not to panic hoping he knew what he new what he was doing as jumping off the slab would of probably definitely killed me. I wasn't strapped down. I wasn't told what to expect either though.
The other uncomfortable bit was when he gave me an injection to stimulate an attack. Holleeeeeyyy snapper! I thought my heart was going to climb out under it's own steam. Must be forgetting those bits already.
Cool though watching the gizmo's get sloshed around by the blood flow in the heart on the big screen.
Good to hear yours has worked out. :Y:

I didnt get the injection to stimulate the heart they did it with the probes .The surgeon would yell out to another doctor in a room who would switch on something. The heart would go crazy for a minute or two, then they would stop an see what would happen..after about 20 mins of that he said all good ...we tried to make it beat out of rhythm but couldnt :perfect:

I went into AF whilst in Adelaide on the weekend and was taken to Hospital and zapped back into rhythm.
Nothing like you guys but I have a shaved chest and back and bloody great burn marks.
They stuck a scanner down my throat to look at my heart from the inside to check there was no clots prior to the zap.
All worked out ok and back at the grind thankfully.

GT :argh:

PS that new Adelaide hospital is awesome :Y:

I think I would rather what I got...I watched a few YouTube videos on that shock treatment......NO THANKS.

Yep. The injection was because it wouldn't fire up. Although once it started they could use the probes.
Mine kept going. He couldn't get the whole thing as it was to close to the AV node so at the mo on a wait and see.

He said if they need to have another crack they can use a computer to control the burn. Gotta be better than a bloke yelling "Stop!" :D :D

Is that the ultra sound thing. I had that too. That is bloody awful. Worse than the op. I'm a gagga and that thing should be listed on the list of WMD.
Okay maybe an exaggeration. But it'll be a cold day in hell before that goes down my throat again..................I hope. :argh:

Lost count how many times I've been cardioverted, well over 40+, 3 x ablations and maze procedure. Has all calmed down a little now since they've put in a titanium mitral valve. If it goes spastic now I just pop a pill and it resets itself. Was on first name basis there for a while with the A+E staff, even had a nurse give me a lift home after being jump started once lol. Makes me wonder what will happen if I stumble across a 10 ouncer, but happy to find out :playful:
