Hi All :)
My AT Pro arrived the other day. :D
Quickly put it together and headed to the local park.
I only had about 40 Minutes till dark.
1st find was a 2 Cent Piece 1974
2nd was a Penny 1933 :)
I was stoked to find my 1st Pre Decimal coin so soon.
Next 2 Finds... Pieces of chewed up aluminium can. Then it was dark.

Not a bad start I thought.

Early next day... Same park, Different location tho.
10 bottle caps
2 Can tabs (Saw dozens more)
Old padlock
Triangle or alum
Small screw
Assorted bits of metal n foil.
$9.70 In moderns

Most of the Moderns from a tot lot.

I used Pro in also modes, After picking up a target I would switch to Pro mode to hear the different tones.
Not bad :)

2 things
1 Maitland people drink a Lot :)
2 I am going to have a very extensive collection of bottle caps 8) ;)

Ha ramjet where in maitland you at, close to east maitland?

We have to keep ourself amused some how.

Went for a quick swing in a tot lot last eve.
Nothing of value.
The medallion Is interesting.
I've emailed the Squadron Association Secretary for an address to post it.
Hoping it finds it's way to it's owner.
Return email from the Secretary and he says he's never seen one like it.

Good deed number 2

Saw a wallet in the middle lanes of Maitland Hospital roundabout.
(Locals know how busy that is)
I pulled over ran back. Well dawdelled back really, and dashed out to grab it.
Looked at the licence. Tried online for a number. Found 1 with the same surname... no answer.
So I took it to the cop shop, treasure intact.
Hope he gets it back.

PS mate got his wallet, gave me a call, very happy.

Hi Rod - The brass plate motto reminded me of my RAN aviation days! Jed
PS What is a "tot lot"

Good info Goose, thanks.
Secretary of the squadron said it will go into squadron memorabilia If the owner cant be found.
Shouldn't be too hard... How many from the squadron visited Maitland park recently?

My guess is someone lost it last Thursday! (ANZAC Day) good work on getting the items back to the owners.

Edit, I did a bit of a google on 76 Sqn RAAF, here is the wiki link.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No._76_Squadron_RAAF

Given the condition of the coin, I can only speculate that it is a recent loss. Check the edge of the medal, it may have a name engraved, if this was presented to someone for meritorious service or as a farewell gift then it may have a name. I will talk to a few of my RAAFIE mates and see if any light can be shed on this, would be nice to see it back in the hands of the owner, it would have great sentimental value if it once belonged to "Pop" who was in the war.

I think your on the money there.

Maybe take it down to the local RSL and see if anyone recognises it.

Hey Ramjet, amazing find mate.

I did a quick surface run tonight over at the netball courts next to Maitland Park, had a little trouble locating targets in the dark but ended up with $4 for my troubles.

Let me know if you want to team up some time.

Hey Nugget did a run over at the park through the week for a few pre-decimals and $6 in moderns. Doesn't seem to matter how many times that park gets hit, it still gives up the goodies.

It sure does Scoopa, the bark and leaves around the playground provide great coverage for moderns.

Yeah nugget and some of the outer areas aren't to bad either, I'll PM you my phone number and if you want to catch up for a swing let me know.
