    SDC2300 Accessories

Since purchasing the 4500, I haven't used the SDC a whole lot, it mostly gets used when the Mrs comes out with me for the day. I took it for a spin the other day to a spot where i have found gold with the 4500, and managed to rescue two babies at 0.11 and 0.05. I use ear bud headphones and...

    Feel the POWER!

I was out yesterday mucking around with settings on the 4500...an endless journey of discovery :D I found some ground where I was able to run in Special -> Sharp... Crikey! I wish I could run in that all the time! My pick has never been so annoying, had to keep it well over my shoulder while...

    Battery position

I was thinking about adapting a backpack to carry my GPX battery, for those times when I explore on foot a fair distance from the car. The front pocket is narrow and would carry the battery snuggly, but it would be in a vertical/end to end position, as opposed to how it sits in the harness. Do...

    Coiltek 105 mono

I recently bought the Coiltek 10x5 mono as an unused 2nd hand item off fleabay. It definitely looked unused when it arrived. I took it for a spin and picked up a nice speccie on it's first outing, so I guess it works :) It's a quiet coil, runs nice and smooth, but I did find it very bump...

    Coil/Rx Minelab GPX

I was just wondering if anyone runs their Mono coils in the DD position? I've been using a DD coil to work some pretty tough ground (high mineralisation and a plethora of hot rocks) thinking it would be better at handling those conditions. Changed to a Mono coil in the DD position and it out...

    Bathurst

In the process of moving, and there's not much left in the house, but and old couch and TV remain  I'm not a Ford fan, but Winterbottom grew up in the same 'hood as me, so I'll be sending my energy his way :D :Y:

    New G14 River Sluice Box

I picked up this bad boy on special last week, from the legends at Central West Prospecting Supplies... https://www.cwpsupplies.com.au/product/g14-river-sluice-box-sluicy-gold-prospecting-equipment/ I took it for a test yesterday, only putting through approximately the equivalent of five pans...

    Pinpointer question

I was wondering if a pinpointer would be a valid tool for running over material that has been tipped out of a sieve to check for any small gold nuggets/speccies? Would they also be capable of detecting gold inside a small piece of quartz, say golf ball size?

    Can anyone identify this stone?

Found this last week at Black Springs, not sure if it's just a unique piece of quartz, or something more??

    Weapon of choice

I'm considering doing a bit of blackberry bush clearing, with a view to gaining better access to some productive areas. I have a Stihl line trimmer, but not sure its up to the challenge. I'm not planning on clearing massive areas, just a bit here and there as I go. I like the shredding...

    My kind of shop

I grabbed a few crevicing tools and went in and started scratching around, but the staff were yelling at me and told me to get out ;)

    Rocks 'n stuff

Was out scratching around in a new area (for me) on the weekend, and this stuff below was everywhere... Is it some kind of Ironstone conglomerate? Did find a bit of quartz in the area too, but not heaps. Had a quick swing and pan in the creeks, but no colour in the areas I checked. Is it...

    Looking for a big bag

I've been looking for a long heavy duty bag to transport my picks, shovel, crow bar on the roof racks. Eventually I'd like to get a basket/tray to put them in, but at the moment, it would make the Landy too tall to fit under the carport, and I don't want to be putting a tray on and taking it off...
