Here i go again! Went to do some shopping today and the wife says " would you like a sandwich and coffee while we are out?" yep, easy. The coffee arrives in a mug which is what i always have at this eatery and lo and behold the mug is now smaller by about 15% in capacity. Reason they changes coffee brands and the company supplied the new mugs. Did the price go down? Not on your Nelly. Rant over- till next time that is.😜

Electricity prices are going up, yep, and in NSW could be $220 P/A. Well the way i see it is that would be 60 cents per day, so give up a coffee at the servo/shop , once per week and you got it covered. Not rocket science , and i do understand that $220 is a lot of money, but, you can do it.
Depends what you use (equipment) and the size of family- for many it is 6 times that per day.

yes mackka it is a lot of money ,but i like it when the know it all's always say shop around for the best deal
yep we get a choice of 3 here energex, energex or energex ,good luck with those thieves run by the state government
with all the new housing going on around the area mackka we have been having brown outs the last 3 years during the summer months, had energex out but they say everything is within "THEIR" laws of electricity supply
i can not even get 240v power at my meter box now ,all i get is 225v at the box , and 215v at the power point in the shed (cant even run my pissy little 2hp compressor, overload switch trips before it gets to full pressure )but that is ok because we are rural and we don't count ,just go away and don't bother us, oh and go and buy a 10kva or 12 kva generator so you have power, but you still will be charged the over inflated price for the pittance of power we supply you
sorry mackka rant over ,
i am starting round 10 with energex mackka 😒

Yep, similar up our way, ergon, ergon or ergon etc. Solar isn't an option when you are renting.

Don't be sorry SS as it is me whom is sorry for you and good luck with your fight. We just had the solar panels checked and cleaned (supposedly) and the First report said the old panels were faulty and so was the isolator. next inspection, different crew, There all in excellent condition just the wiring needed some work and the isolator is fine but the cleaning job was crook. Now the wife is trying to talk to the powers that be to get a verification that all is good , stay tuned mate. Cheers

It's pretty hard to get a trusty serviceman these days. We go by word of mouth- we have a great electrician and plumber and handyman. They are a go to people.

Down in Vic, the solar rebates are available to landlords also and some are taking up the option to install on their rental properties.
If that is also the case in Qld, renters may be able to drop some hints as there are definitely benefits for landlords such as an increase in the capital value of the property.
I also think they would be looking at a rental increase but any more than $10 per week could not be justified on the capital value of a 6.6 standard domestic EV system.
Depending on the size of a tenants electricity bill $500 per year extra rent could well be more than offset by the savings on annual electricity bills.
I fear that the impending increase in power costs is just the tip of the iceberg as we struggle to find reliable replacements for or base load generators and anything we can do now to protect ourselves is worth examining.

Yes. Getting the landlord to fork out is the issue.

Yeah that's the issue, some landlords can be miserly pricks.
I hope we are not included in that description as I have to disclose that we have a rental unit in our superannuation and we fully consulted with our tenant before before installation and advised that we would need to put up the rent by $10 a week to cover the costs and depreciation on the system over approx 7 years.
They were fully supportive as they would get a significantly greater saving than that off their bills now and into the future.
With extensive installation of rooftop solar pushing often unwanted power into the grid we were afraid that governments would someday reduce or remove solar rebates for installations and further reduce power buy back tariffs. If rebates and input tariffs were to be substantially reduced then we felt the valuation of a property with solar would be more than one without so we felt it time to act.
We managed to get a 6.6 Kw system installed for $3500, not the cheapest as we wanted the installing company to outlast their guarantee period. Of that our cash outlay was $2100 with a $1400 Vic Gov loan which will be paid for out of the rental increase.
So we reckon it should be a win/win for both tenants and landlords and worthwhile raising and discussing the possibility now.

My whinge is about finding this beauty when prospecting. Obviously someone’s lunch wrapping. But carefully rolled into a perfect ball and left on the ground where they were working. Who does this? Snd why? It will break into dozens of pieces snd drive Detectorists mad in a few years.
Rubbish is rubbish. If you cart it in- cart it out. Be kind. Applies also to Al cans, bottle tops and tins. FDFCA14B-4465-4481-932B-C952DEEC4B22.jpeg

Yes even cigarette butts should leave the area with you. My favourite is soiled dunny paper floating across the paddocks.:rolleyes:

Yes GHT, copped the result of something like this yesterday while detecting Maroochydore Beach (which has lost some 8-10ft off the sand banks in places, revealing old stones of old rivers beds). Anyway, I picked up about 20 or more little corroded pieces of alum cans that were probably buried where people sat on the sand 20 years ago....now distributed 😞
