There's plenty of posts of alluvial gold and coin/artefact sites, but very few of nugget sites.

Here you go .... big nuggets list.....

I used to include the general region in which I found my gold but these days there are too many "guests" lurking on prospecting sites (ditto with Facebook) so these days it's photo only.

There are several people I have no problem openly sharing exact locations with and in most cases info flows both ways, there ARE some genuinely trustworthy people out there (on Forum and Facebook) but they need to earn my trust just as hopefully I have earned theirs.

I'd be more interested in learning to "read' the ground/old digging properly rather than be given exact spots.

Just my 2 bob's worth,
Cheers Tom

Oops PDF file couldn't be attached ... too large (like the nuggets), will try to find/insert a link, sorry.

Trusted friends new or old no worries
I get your collective points - there are too many non-members who use this site for info and won't reciprocate, so I'm OK with: "trusted friends - new or old".
"Swinging & digging" and "dam it" (possibly aussiefarmer) seem keen for a possible meet up in the Northern Dunolly region next weekend to try a "new spot" - I'm happy to share my research, and am willing to share results with PA fellows keen to join the meet. PM only.

I have too but with a vlf Garrett that only go's down less than 10cm in hot ground I got flogged compared to a gpx5000 anyway the quick story was I had found a 2 gram nugget on this patch and well I invited a so called friend and he found a total of 46 nuggets ranging from 1 gram up to 8grams but after the gpx5k hover vac went over the ground I found nothing more than the 2 gram nugget I had found in the first place and he never shared any of the nuggets that I put him onto to find anyway nowadays I keep to myself.

Sorry to hear these stories HTY. Guess you know who your friends are. If I have a patch running, I keep at it with my 4500 until pretty clean, then don't mind letting on so the GPZ and SDC guys can clean up. If it's a new prospective spot, then it's good to involve others to give it a good try-out. They've done the same for me.

Hi BigWave
I'd be keen to meet up in Northern Dunolly next weekend. I can only make it Saturday.
It would be great to catchup and swap some stories and places.
Cheers Andy aka Dignit

If somebody asks me I'm happy to pint them in the right direction, especially if it's a real newbie, I know how hard it is trying to find your first nugget, the thing is just because you put them in right area doesn't mean they are going to find it but at least you're giving them a chance to enjoy the thrill, I do the same with fishing, I've fished now for years and have hundreds of gps marks in my gps, but what new guys forget is its the experience knowing how the fish bites, what the weather is like tide, time temp etc etc etc, but at least if you give them a leg up then I think that's a good thing and the same with gold, it took me over 6 months of hard slog before I found my first nugget and that was after a mate took me out with him and this just confirmed that what I was doing was right but he gave me the confidence to trust the machine and within 30 mins I had my first one and I have kept it up since, I will be forever greatful to him

I tell people my spots, by bank account number, pin number. Why not, blokes I don't know from a bar of soap come up to me in the bush and say "found any gold?" Of course I show them and take them to the filled in holes they came from then show them where I reckon the run follows. As if........

I've been really appreciative when some of you here shared spots with me when I was first starting out - you know who you are. I must say that back then I really didn't know what I was doing and that help gave me a grounding in the necessary preparation to find gold and relics. I've since learned to do the research and that means I will go find my own gold. I watch and cringe on here when someone very brazenly asks for coordinates. Why don't they do their own prep and go find their own gold. I just think its really bad manners to ask for spots. If someone wants to volunteer a spot then that's different but I too would make sure I'd got what I wanted before I told anyone about a spot. And only then after I had formed a meaningful friendship with that person. Just sayin'.

Hi Ronk,
Thanks your feedback. The only one on your list at which I found gold detecting in Vic (only small) was Tarnagulla. Great little pub there, with splendid meals and service as well.

Why would anyone tell really,... some big company trolling the site could end up blanketing the ground in some great exploration lease and take it all in one big greedy grab with a dragline and 50 billion dollars worth of resources behind them,... heck,... they could even build there own railroad and bring in employee's from their own country,... buy orher land and grow food here to feed their own employees, ... heck they could build their own town and airport and do fifo from their own country landing behind locked gates and we'd be none the wiser,... but hang on,... that's what your representitive government that was more than likely nearly all born overseas somewhere and educated in the private schooling system of this or some other contry is letting happen to the country we were all more than likely born in and raised on. W T F. 8) 8) 8)

Are you having trouble finding gold BigWave..?
Hi Atom. Depends on your meaning - gold or just small gold? We (daughter and I) haven't been home with empty pockets for some time, and some of our trips (mostly weekenders) pay for themselves, with a total to date of 82 gold finds (using 4500 detector) over 3.25 years. Very few from patches, and all in the GT apart from 4 specs (inc. 2 sunbakers which don't count) at Tibooburra. We still need to beat the 10g target - getting close but no cigar :( . Next targets after that are: 1/2oz then 1+oz. Then we'll feel out of the Little League

Sounds like you're doing well BigWave! My biggest nugget still sits at a 9 grammer for about as much time detecting as you. Most of my nugs have come from jupiter creek or chapel hill in SA despite a WA trip.
