Have had it before, opposite side, but was more lower back than this. This is around right kidney, to my groin, down my leg to my knee, and the knee pain is unbearable.
Panadine forte might as well be tic tacs

Try molexicam ( script) its an anti- inflammatory drug and take two osteo Panadol in the morning. Its much better on the guts then voltaren and usually works after day 2. Ive had a full spinal fusion from a prolapsed disc and are still digging holes 10 years later.

Hi Dave

This stuff (PEA - Palmitoylethanolamide) might be worth a shot if you have a Compounding Pharmacy nearby...a friend of mine swears by it and was pain free after taking it for just 2 days (even though she was told it might take a week or so to kick in).

Cheers Annie :)

PS. If you have pain in the kidney area, might also be a good idea to see the Doc as Kidney stones sometimes mimic sciatic pain.

I get sciatic nerve pain in my leg. Gabapentin stops it and helps you sleep as well

I have Hundreds of them here, The Doc keeps giving me them for the nerve pain with my chest and in my legs, I never take em and I keep telling them I don't need them but they keep giving me them for nothing, :(

Will try some stretching from you tube and see a physio or chirp tomorrow.
X-ray revealed I have mild scoliosis, been living with it my whole life apparently and never knew!

I heard the Chiro talking to a patient the other day about scoliosis and how it can look like that to a technician if you moved at all during your scan, something to keep in mind if no one ever told you you had scoliosis before.

Been a bricklayer for 45 years . lots of back, knee ,elbow sciatica pain . got myself a DR tens machine, cleard the lot , BEST thing ever

Back in the early 2000's played a lot of cricket & had back issues with a lot of sciatica. Had regular sessions with a lovely Canadian chiropractor. She got me right before persistent seasons of bowling long spells led to disc issues & retiring from the game.

Chiro got me right again & with consistent rest due to no longer playing the sciatica was gone.

I ploughed through painkillers to try & sleep when the sciatica was at its worst.

I played a fair bit of cricket when I was younger.
Opened the bowling, thought I was pretty quick, used to make a few batsmen hop around....then I faced a proper fast bowler....I realised that I wasnt quite as quick as I thought!
Results from CT scan should be in tomorrow, so will plan after that comes back. I have had it twice before, but opposite side and although painful, not as bad as this time. Or as long.

Have had sciatica for years, like hard luck said, the stretching machine at the physiotherapists works well and when it first flares again a freezer pak in a pillowcase , leave it there till the area feels frozen, use two or three times a day for a coupla days, works for me.

Physiotherapy dept. at the local hospital was most helpful and beneficial earlier this year. Dr. said it was a hammy, I wasn't convinced it was and the physio agree with me that it was sciatic nerve damage.

Ive had it for years , from all the former yearsof Removalist work . Tried everything but best thing of all was a simple inversion table I bought , to hang upside down . Instant relief and flare ups gone in a day . Youd be amazed how much gravity shortens us . Just 5 mins of hanging at an angle , and you come out 3 Cm taller , than before you went on !

Had it on and off for years, 3 yrs ago my back totally froze up with it down both sides. Sports Physio got me up and going real quick using a Pilates Reformer, now I do 15 mins of exercises every morning to warm my back up for the day, no problems since.

I could write a novel on sciatica,1st stint was about 15 years ago and it was hell for 3 years,no surgery and got over it,it came back about 6-7 years ago not as bad but still it was a serious problem, ive got some numb toes, heels and behind the knees a bit to,thats permanent nerve damage now.
Went under the knife about 2 1/2 yrs back this time, they burnt the ends of some nerves and trimmed up all around the vertebrae, blown out bulging discs of course.
If they say you need surgery Dave go for it,its the best thing i ever did, physically and mentally its debilitating if its serious and ya cant shake it,i did the chiro early on and it didnt help and every specialist said to me do not go to a chiro, they can make it worse, its allmost ruined my life off an on for years but now hey im great, wish id done it earlier.
PM me or give me a buzz if ya want i will talk ya into getting it sorted, dont battle it for years, its f%#ked for want of a better word......

Gold chaser thanks!
I have two bulging disks. L3 and 4.
Physio closed over x mas.
This is 2nd time, and its more persistent.
Opposite side this time, and the pain was around kidney area, down to front of groin down my thigh to my knee cap. Feels like a really pain ful cork, and the knee cap pain is the worst.
See how physio goes if I can ever get an appointment!
So far just managing the pain and wearing a back brace, but yeah, never been so immobile.

It's a bugga hey... Mrs S used to rub that methyl salicylate onto my back for the pain, I think it's an Asprin based type rub.... smelly but can bring releif for a while. Can buy it over the counter for around the $10 mark... never goes off either.

Panadine forte were like tic tacs, nothing
Voltaren worked at first, but started playing up with my guts, will give them another go though.
Doc has me on some heavy pain relief atm, but I really dont want to use them unless I have to, he put me on 2 a day, Im trying to get by on 1.
Really want to go to physio, has me in on Wednesday, so fingers crossed!
