where to buy rough gem stones

hello I would like to buy some rough gem stones to facet. I have looked at ebay. I have been cutting lab created stones but feel the need to go with the real stuff. I would like to buy from a reputable person, shop. do any of the members buy gem stones and from where

Hi,
Don't know where your based but the Lapidary gemshows have dealers of faceting rough and there you can inspect it firsthand eg Minerama in March at Glen Innes. The Australian Lapidary Forum has a calendar of gemshows. A website http://www.gemwerx.com/ has good stuff, garnet zircon peridot and topaz, at a reasonable price, and they visit Northern gemshows.

The GEMBOREE being held over the Easter long weekend at Longernong (Horsham VIC). The GEMBOREE is the major Australian event held annually each Easter there will be lots of international suppliers of rough finished articles machinery dealers, hobbyists who are selling their rough as well as competitions for Australian and international Gem Cutters
