Yep, Steve Martin the comic actor is a decent musician too and
persuaded Paul McCartney to do the vocal on this 2011 Bluegrass album.

From Bizet's opera The Pearlfishers. The definitive version - recorded in 1951.
The song is sung by two men who both loved the same woman but chose
to forsake her rather than destroy their own friendship. This is their first
meeting after a long time apart and it always bring tears to my eyes.

Rumours; one of the best albums of all time. Made when the band
members were in emotional turmoil over marriage breakups and other
issues. I sometimes think artistic people need emotional upheaval to
really get in touch with themselves - said from personal experience
of an interesting female classical musician :)

Ewan MacColl did a great deal to save the English folk tradition from
dwindling. Fishing in the North Sea off the eastern UK was a very
hard job which gave no quarter and killed many. The UK working class
had it tough - MacColl understood this. He wrote this song in 1960 to
honour those men.
