Hey guys, just back from some relic hunting.

First stop was the 1800's site. I spent a couple of hours without much luck.
Here's what I found.

Second stop was on the same property, this site is from an old house dating to 1910 to around 1960.
Here's my finds.

Still unsure what coin I found.

I thought this was a hand grenade lol.

And this machinery plate is really cool.

I will update when I know what the coin is.
Thanks for looking.

Does this look like a flintlock hammer to anyone?

The coin was a 1917 half penny.

Looks decorative to me, Dont think it is from a weapon. The longer curved section appears to have been twisted. I think a flintlock hammer would have a flatter area and some kind of screw mechanism to hold the flint in place.

Cheers, Tone

Thanks Paul,
Here's the half penny in better detail. Not in the best shape, but she's my first half penny :)

Some more finds from today.
A couple of old bullet shells, one is an Eley bro's the other is a very old paper style shell, and a handmade lead swan that I thought was junk at first.

I'm not sure what this next one is.

A heavy old iron wheel.

And another glass bottle. I never thought my detector would be so good at finding glass :)

The round object with Ancre De Precision marked on it, is the inside cover off a swiss pocket watch (covers the internals), the symbols represent the awards won by the watch maker at swiss timing competitions. The one you have is obviously older since it has won less awards.

Relics are good, even better with the makers name/company stamped on the item, makes for good history! According to some Trove documents. possibly from around the late 1800's. :)

Yeah I'm hooked on relics, you never know what your going to find, and I enjoy the knowledge that comes from researching places and the relics.

I found a couple of references to a guy called George W Nettleton a saddler who was getting around in the late 1800's.

Gday Stoney,
The glass hand grenade you found is a
"Pecks salmon spread or fish paste " jar.
My wife recognized the one I found and told
me what it was when she saw it.
They were shaped like that in the 1960s - 1970s when
she was eating that poison, bit they may be way
older than the dates above.
Nice finds.
Cheers Stoyve :D

Great finds that buckle would have been a ripper if the front section was still around and love the saddler piece
That's the second one I found at the site, neither has the front section, hopefully I'll dig one soon.

Hi Stoyve, those dates sound about right. The house was where my Mum grew up. It was abandoned sometime in the late sixties. I'm not sure when it was built, I first thought around the 1920's but I have found a few relics there that pre-date the 1900's.

Salmon paste sounds like something my mum would have eaten :)
