Im going through some of my finds over the past year or so and found this. Thought I might have got the purple on it by mistake but its in the stone. Anyone else find anything like it before?

I don't know much, but it looks like amerthist, as kids we used to pick up a lot of stone like that in the neighbors paddock.
 
Perhaps. Just check that everything is hardness 7 (amethyst will be). Not fluorite (hardness 4)?

I agree, "grey" Amethyst? "green" Amethyst? I don't go there. Citrine, Smokey, Amethyst, Rose, etc have a reason why they are distinguished by other colours of the quartz macrocrystalline varieties and the reason is their colouration.
 
Looks like 1st pic has a bit of amethyst in it. To me the darker section just looks like smokey running through clear quartz. Interesting sample. I would tumble it
