Here are some brooches all around the 1914 era, and insert for a sweethearts pin.
amazing the German brooches were all found near the RFC insert.

Maybe the german stuff was brought back from the war, though maybe the swastika was from a bit later? Interesting finds Cheese. :) :)

Hi Goldpick, Where I have been finding these items and a lot of the other items
was the town fair ground, I found on Trove that in 1914 there was 800 people
attending this fair, I don't know how correct trove report was but all these
items are from the start of ww1. but the German brooches are very strange.
I asked the farmer who put me onto it as broken glass was every where
and he said it was a town dump, but no.
I asked the farmer who owned the land before him, as trove mentioned
the land owners name, and bingo, found the old fair ground.
It was the best detecting ground, I used the ctx in every mode,
the result a heap of old spoons and sewing thimbals, 2 jars of coins,
an old cast car hub, horse riding spur, and enough copper for me casts
when I get time.

I recently read an article where it said there was a "Gestapo" camp near my place before WW2. Once war broke out they rounded them up. I never knew that it could be possible but it's 100% correct, they used to get German merchant sailors and rough them up if they were against the Nazi Party, in the late 1930's this place was basically in the middle of nowhere. There are "Nazi War Eagle" and Swastiki carvings, plus carvings of ship names on rocks there too. Can see buildings there from the 1943 Sydney air images. That's the "creepy spot"I remember mentioning to you.

Could be a similar camp site.

I wonder what type of car that hub is off.?
and another brooch, It is rare that I find items after say 1920

decoration brooches.
