Hmm was gonna say..."just another sieve" but after watching a bit further, I can see merits in the idea....its like a gold pan sieve!!

I saw a doco by Ross Kemp on SBS a couple of weeks ago, he was in Africa looking at the diamond trade. The guys digging the diamonds up in some pit in the middle of the jungle were using something very similar to this and did the exact flip technique that is used here, except instead of panning out the fines, some eagle eyed old guy was looking through the fines for diamonds... I guess the principle is the same.

Hmmm, we use the flip all the time...normal clean up...
I think with this sieve is that it dips in the middle, therefore operating quite like a pan....
