I found this rock not far from Blue Mount/Trentham last weekend. Its a volcanic area but its magnetic and my detector picked it up about a foot deep.
I know most volcanic rocks aren't magnetic so its got me stumped. If i had to take a punt i would say it might be a meteorite? Not sure.
Anyone have any idea what type of rock it is?

Photos a little bit blurry if you can get any more to upload, also with another object like a coin for scale would be useful.
Are there any soft pitted dimples in it at all? It may be an iron type rock like limonite

I cracked open the rock Atomrat and i reckon your spot on mate thanks again.

I also found theses rocks today and i did get a good strong sound from them.
I might make a dolly pot and pan it.
