If ever you find youself trying to operate a small high banker with no pump next to a stagnant water source
a 2 or 3 litre milk carton with the top cut away but the handle left in place makes an excellent bailer.
If there is no adjacent water source and the machine is small enough, stand its front legs in a babies' bath or other trough and ,
using the bailer, keep a recirculating flow of water passing over the riffles.
With reasonably clean water-washed gravel two jerry cans of water will keep your high banker working for hours.
For what it's worth.
