HI I find having a pre picked UHF channel a problem as many times we have been out and all we get is chatter from other users .Once we arrive to where we intend to detect we choose a channel and see how it goes 12 or 16 most of the time regards john :)
 
I agree with you John but as I said it would simply be "make contact" channel which members can than switch over to whatever channel they like.
 
25 sounds fine, we usually use 24 as its mostly clear maybe it could be the fallback if 25 is full.

We also have a code for any finds so those listening in don't know what we are talking about so they don't come in and kindly clean out our spot for us the next day.
That way those with your group can come over and share in your find in peace.
The code word is changed each trip so no one can pick up a pattern.
 
We accepted 25 as a call channel last year, then can pick a channel to yap on.
gcause's use of codes as not to give away your spots etc is an idea as well.
