Thats really cool to have found both pieces ...
I just cant get my heed around coins being cut through so cleanly like that... Amazing

I missed your post from the other night with the Holloways token , now thats a cool find. I hope to be able to add one of those to my finds someday. Im pretty sure a couple have been found around newcastle so there is always a chance ;)

The good thing about the token was that it had me baffled for ages on what it actually was, good fun doing a bit of research. The cut fifty cent reminds me of half round silver fifty cent I found a while back, never did manage to find the other half despite hitting the spot pretty meticulously. :)

Had the best hunt for a long time tonight, hit a new spot after some research which turned up a boomer of a site. Unusually the tables were turned, with barely any decimal coins to be found, just pre-decimals in what has to be some of the quietest ground I've ever detected in.

Total was 22 pre-decimals, representing the coppers were 3 x 1943, 1942, 1944, 1947, 1927 & 1923 pennies, 3 x 1943, 1942, 1941, 1949, 1932, 1936 half pennies. Best find of the night by far was an 1890 Jubilee head Queen Victoria shilling followed by a 1922 shilling, 1940 & 1962 sixpence, and lastly, 1943 & 1926 threepence. :D

I was running the stock 11" coil, and all the above coins boomed through with lovely clear high tones - barely needed to read the screen, just dig. ;)

Some stunning coins there, lucky 1890 silver, imagine if it were in better condition, youd be pumped. Good hunt

Just a couple of pic from last nights variety of finds, lots of wasted time on BB's, but hey, you never know what might turn up.

Not sure what the decorative heavy copper disc is from, thought I had dug up a cricket buckle of sorts, but not to be.

Pre-decs were a 1927 hp, 1922 hp, 1951 penny, 1927 6p, 1910 3p, and 1942 3p.

Yeah GP,... so close to a 23 1/2 penny too, bet that 1922 got your heart beating fast at first glance,...great looking silvers you scored there as well.

Yes, the brown buggers are a bit of a pain. Had a whole park full of them and eventually gave up to move on to another spot after not locating any pre-decs. Ended up finding the penny next to the gutter on the way back to the car.

Didn't stay out long last night, it was freeken freezing - had trouble handling my pinpointer my hands were so numb. :D

The spot I detected so far has had few finds from it, but most are pretty good when you do eventually walk over something as was on this occasion, also not too much junk. First pre-decimal was a 1921 hp, followed by a boring old 20c, so I headed back to the car in defeat from the cold. On the way back I received a very good signal which turned up a very blackened 1908 brittania penny, and in gridding up the same area came up with yet another florin (1956), also covered in a black coating. Seems the black coating may have resulted from residue off nearby trees, as it was very easy to remove and has left the coins in spectacular condition, especially the penny.

I threw the old TAB cola cap in for nostalgia for those who enjoyed the 70's and 80's. As you can see it is also in near new condition, and I'm sure "junk" like this will be collectable one day. Imagine that, targetting $1 & $2 coin signals to find vintage bottle caps! :D

Maybe part of an inkwell, as well, is it silver?

Looks like a surround of a car door lock, gave some nice tones but unfortunately it's just chromed junk.

Not wrong Chewy, tonight is probably going to be worse. Don't think I will risk getting flattened by a tree limb tonight. :)
