Newby with 2 kids need ideas for places to prospect

Hello,

We are from Melbourne with recently purchase equinox 800 still learning mode.

just like some info and idea on where to go and prospecting with 2 kids with 6 and 10 year old where the eldest is more keen than me and being a ADHD
I need to wear him out. This seem to do the trick but need ideas where to go and prospect.

Hi Kevin, and welcome to PA.

Put simply, for beginners such as yourself, you can prospect in any State Forest in Victoria.
This map shows them up very well as the light yellow areas.

Pick one and go for it!

But make sure you have a Miner's Right first. Kids under 18 don't need one if they're with an adult who has one.

That has a lot of information about prospecting you need to know too. Have a good read of it.

Just be careful of snakes with your kids, take a snake bite kit with you, and be extra careful in areas of old mining activity with mine shafts.
Keep a very close eye on them in the bush!
