I know that gold had been found in this area historically but......
My son advised me that he found that a 10oz nugget was found on a construction site at Foster (Gippsland) on FaceBook.
I haven't heard anything else since so I don't know how accurate this report is (FaceBook??????).

Gold nuggets were found in the Mallee Victoria . It was worked out that the natives had got fed up with carrying them .

Hmmm..... now if you can find the spot where they were camped and run around with a detector .......
