Metal detecting

:goldpan: :goldnugget: Hey guys, im cameron and im very new to this detecting hobby, ive done panning before so i thought ill upgrade and try out detecting.
I brought myself a garrett at max, yes its a great relic machine. when i use the 5x8 coil its meant to help find small sensitive targets. I just a little stuck with on how to find a good spot to have a swing in and how to use geo maps for detecting?
been up to castelmain and didnt get any targets not even a lead shot

No gold,but lots of targets.
I started along where the old timers were digging, then uphill from gullies.
