Has anyone had any positive or negative experiences with the above mentioned 4x4's? I know there are issues on dealing with Jeep dealerships and parts supply from the US, but they seem to offer a fair bit for the price, especially when looking at the KJ 2.8 crd. :)

No, but Volvo has brought out a new car heater for detecting in winter.

sorry mate - the write ups on the on-line fourby magazines and clubs give them a tick. The issue is parts I guess in some of the more remote places in WA and QLD but I stand to be corrected on that. Toyota just seem to have it in the bag due to the miners etc buying large fleets and local dealer support seems good. Seen the 10 Cherokees for sale at $10,000 each ad? Just have to get to the remote spot.

Hi Goldpick. I have owned 3 Jeeps and love them. I had the Cherokee Sport model before these came out. Balx still drives one of them. I also had 2004 TJ Wrangler and we still own a Grand Cherokee that my wife drives. We owned the car for 11 years and never had a problem. All 3 Jeeps I owned very very reliable and fantastic off road.
The parts are expensive if you go to dealer. I always got my Jeeps serviced by Jeep specialist. I use Poly 4x4 in Melbourne. They have lots of parts and know the cars back to front and you will save your self about 1/2$ in servicing.
I am not sure about the model you are looking at but the old straight 6 engine was thirsty. It would use as much fuel as a V8 Grand Cherokee (about 17-18 l/100km) but it does have a lot of grunt. I think the model you are looking at has a V6.
If you look after them, they are fantastic reliable car build like a tank. There are lots off Jeep forums that will give you an idea what they're like + lots of advise if anything goes wrong.

Cheers for that, I'm not expecting japanese quality, but looking at between the kj and kk, the kj seems to be more capable off-road. The diesel has just as many issues to look out as any common rail diesel these days.

I had a 96 Cherokee LTD, sold it 8 years ago, it was bloody fantastic, towed my 18 foot caravan with it & it was great on fuel economy. the only problem I ever had was getting 15 inch tyres to replace ones I had staked when out bush, & could only get to small country. town in North WA.
