Hi All
When I was panning I had a soft gold looking metal in my pan, if I rubbed it between my fingers it would fall apart like gold leaf.
What I would like to know was it fool's gold or mica.
Thanks

Thankyou for your help, I now know what to look for when I am panning maybe I will find some real gold one day.

Plenty of research mate and always try to get down to bedrock and you cant not find it. Goodluck, Balx.

Haha i got goosed with the mica too.
Wasnt magnetic. Could bend it. Little round flakes that would sliver.
Best way i found was to hold it in the shade.
Golds gold in the shade or out of the shade.
And it wont sink in youre pan.
Very light and fluttery.
That stuff can make a whole river sparkle.

I don't think I am the first or last person to ask about fool's good . but it is all about asking questions. if you don't ask you don't find out.
It is good there are people willing to help.
