Got back from our 106 day trip to Darwin & across to Cairns by the Savannah Hwy
I was very impressed with the Uluru /Kings canyon area & the McDonald ranges.
Spent a very enjoyable 4 days at Gemtree fossicking for garnets & zircon but did not score anything worth while.
At Obriens creek 40klm from Mt Suprise I was lucky enough to find myself a very nice Smokey Topaz .
Out in the harts range got a black stone about the size of a 10 cent piece which I think maybe a meteorite -----looks similar to some I had previously seen at Charleyville.also it is attracted to a magnet & has some rounded edges as well.
A great trip .
I will be heading back to the Forsayth /Mt Suprise area.
