Why quarantine the threats just delete them.

Unfortunately the less reputable virus/malware scanners, the higher risk of 'false positives'. Which could potentially render your computer worse off and possibly unusable.

Use any AV, AM you like. You are the gate keeper. The program will flag for you.
Once something asks for permission to run you and give it permission, it will run. What it runs and installs is anyone's guess.
Have fun and be careful.

I find it amusing so many people using windows operating systems having to constantly update their antivirus programs,I have used apple operating systems for the last 30 years and have never downloaded an antivirus program or ever needed one, says something doesnt it.

Actually, I never touch my anti-virus, it just came with the operating system. ;) General rule, don't visit porn sites, you won't get viruses. Simple. :playful:

There is a reason you don't hear about Apple's getting viruses. It is called 'market share'. They simply haven't been a target until more recent years (and yes, they do get some very nasty viruses).

Why would people who are trying to hack, export, and god knows what, want to go after the smallest demographic?

"I find it amusing" that people using Mac's think that their Mac is a secure fortress of impenetrable steel. They are the same hardware as PC's, will run the same assembly code at the CPU/GPU/UEFI level.

14% market share doesn't make much of a target. Simply put, you have chosen the unpopular platform.

I mentioned here in another topic that I have been using Bitdefender as my security suite for many, many years. It is always rated at or next to the top of the list for internet security.
In my internet travels I've often found myself being led into less than desirable websites. But I never have problems with my computer.
I have used Malwarebites, Search and Destroy and CC-Cleaner (mentioned by others in this topic) on friend's computers when they have got themselves into trouble.
I would recommend all of the above. I prefer to use both the Disk Cleanup (which comes pre-installed with all versions of windows), as well as Wise Care 365 (free download) to keep my system clean and running smooth.
I highly recommend using Bitdefender. It comes with specialized software for doing your internet banking called Safepay. One item Safepay uses is a virtual keyboard, where you are protected from keylogging, which attempts to get your passwords, etc as you type.
Bitdefender also comes with a number of other apps to help keep your computer safe. Bitdefender also lets me install it on up to 5 devices, including my phone (Android).
Note: My only complaint is the local Aussie provider of Bitdefender charges 1/3 to 50 percent more than the parent company in Norway. SO, I always renew my subscription via the parent company website.
I will only ever use my phone for talking and texting. And just like my computers, I've never had a problem.

Finally, if you use Facebook, don't ever click on adds or game recommendations or those silly quizzes friends like to send around. Many of my friends have had their Facebook pages hacked and the common denominator in each case - they had all clicked on either an add, game recommendation or quiz prior to the hack.
Cheers.
