Well, was surprised a tad.
Not sure how old these sticks are?
They have plastic caps, One red and the other white to attach the fuse.
Plastic is after about 1950???
Made a huge sound on the GPX, thought we had a big one, again, LOL
In the triangle btw.

They would have caused a bit of palpitation that's for sure...
They actually look like hand held flares to me tho...
Someone having some fun in the bush perhaps???
 
Axeman has it right. They are distress flares. Usually carried by boaters. I'd still be sh#tting my pants if I came across them whilst digging a hole though. I would have assumed the worst and left them in situ. No second chances with the real stuff. Regards Russ.
