hubby found this on Friday just uphill a bit from lots of mines,
does anyone know what it's used for?

I would say its one end of a forged handle for a boiler pot or similar and the split is the rust forcing the two bits of flat steel apart that the handle was forged from , but its only a guess.

I'd say your detecting where someone was looming in the old days flowers... or maybe someone was making nets ,.... other finds from the same area may help to narrow down the search fields :Y:

It's a Fugget :lol: :Y: nothing more nothing less now days but in its prime it was an implement with a purposeful name that's long left our vocabulary and renamed a Fugget by a very astute thinking member of PA.
