Had the pleasure of seeing his brilliance at the MCG many times in tests and one dayers when i was younger. Entertaining to watch and a decent sort of bloke.

1985 I was organising a Sportsman night for Brian Stooke and Peter Steele who got shot by Pavil Marinov [Mad Max].
Deano heard about it and rang me and offered his srvices for free.
After speaking very frankly after being dumped from the test team, he answered questions for hours and dontated
shirts, gloves and bats to the auction.
Great bloke.

Been a bad week, Jonesy bought excitement to the game just at the right time! I reckon he was our answer to Viv Richards way of playing the game.
We lost another legend of a completely different kind this week as well, Bob Russo. Another bloke who bought Land Based Game fishing to our attention. Larger than life and a top bloke to go with it. Never had the pleasure to meet or know Dean Jones, but I did know Bob.
