So the so-called experts say Sandta, though I know someone who's partner is doing a study on Borrelia infection in dogs related to tick bites, Borrelia is certainly in Australia without doubt. That's the reason some doctors are starting to use the term "Lyme like illness". The Borrelia we have is probably different to the one overseas but probably just as dangerous.... 
Paralysis ticks need reasonably high humidity to survive, they can't tolerate very dry conditions hence the reason they are never found far from the coast, in low humidity they dry out and die.
