Button?

Found this in the GT - looks like it may have been a button top, with a pin / shaft brazed to the underside? Appears to have been coated metal: the underside has what looks to be verdigris attached, and there's some faint traces of brass plating or similar visible too.

Thoughts welcome.

I'd be inclined to think more of a dirty great thumb tack or drawing pin like the type used in sadlery or leather work and upolstery
