Any idea what this ring is?

G'day. I have a ring I found and it has got me thinking that maybe the AIF stands for Australian Imperial Force. But I can not find another match online.
Does anyone or has anyone got a clue what it is? Is this the greatest ever historical find in Australia?

lol. yeah I thought it was ALF's at first site too.

It seems to fit the pre-decimal area though. By the looks

Could you take more pictures at different angles please, and post them.
The coarse cutting makes me think trench art.

Is that painted and brass underneath? I vote for trench art too. It's pretty rough to be a jeweller's effort (or they were really bad at it!)

No, I scratch tested it, and it seems like it is silver
