G'day. I have a ring I found and it has got me thinking that maybe the AIF stands for Australian Imperial Force. But I can not find another match online.
Does anyone or has anyone got a clue what it is? Is this the greatest ever historical find in Australia? :p

Could you take more pictures at different angles please, and post them.
The coarse cutting makes me think trench art.

Is that painted and brass underneath? I vote for trench art too. It's pretty rough to be a jeweller's effort (or they were really bad at it!) :)

Cheers,

My uncle Ray was an aircraft mechanic during WWII in the UK. He made a few of those from bits left over from bombers' structural parts.
