Its True.... Saw a doco on them a few years back....
I had a look at these more than 40 years ago - this explanation seems reasonable, I have seen incredible pile-ups of ice on shores in the Northwest Territories, the wind causing the ice to move onto the adjacent land - and keep moving!

Yeah, wow. I had read about some of that previously also. It's quite amazing to see for sure. Amazing planet stuff

Fascinating - who would have thought a thin sheet of ice, at such an oblique angle to the wind - could act as a huge sail and move those rocks - so far in such a short time!
