Back to the grind again today, looking for more sites to detect - wasn't very successful with half the day wasted in travelling down near impassible tracks due to overnight rain.
Instead we headed back to the same site again, ths time with the Deus split into two detectors - one with the 11" coil and WS4/Deteknix headphone combo, and the other with the HF 9"coil and remote. After giving the missus a short tutorial on using the Deus with fulltones, off she headed for a maiden run, first target some copper, second target a shotty shell, third a 1905 English hp - talking about beginners luck!
I found out the hard way not to turn on the second Deus until it was out of range of the first one, otherwise the WS4's connect up with the wrong coil, so all I could hear was the missus detecting. :8 Once she was out of range, started up the WS4 and selected the 11" coil and I was good to go. Really should have started mine up first, as it was previously paired with the HF 9" coil.
Still not a huge amount of targets around, I managed a couple of crusty 1917 pennies before digging up a 1914-15 SA Dog tag, several buttons, a huge lock, and large brass thingamijig???
At the day's end, the missus really warmed to the Deus, loved the lack of weight to swing around, and found the menu system quite easy to navigate. Got a feeling that her G2 is going to gather some dust in the coming weeks.
