Can i take my dog prospecting in victoria at all?

PS. If 1080 baits have been laid there will be prominent notices on the trees to that effect - NB. There is *no* antidote to 1080.

Can i take my dog prospecting in victoria at all?

In Victoria: dogs are, generally, only permitted in State Forests - not in State Parks or National Parks. It's OK to drive them through NP/SP and no one is going to prosecute if you let them out, on a lead, for a pee. As prospecting is, largely, restricted to SF it's not a big issue. However...

    restoring an old axe head

Terrific video, thank for posting that. The slots in the base of the axe head are probably for bending things - maybe even for setting the teeth on large saws? But I am perplexed as to what the elongated hole in the body of the head may be for, any ideas anyone?

    Make money prospecting

I think, as always, the "store keepers" do OK.

On this day in 1854 Eureka Stockade attacked

Sadly, most Aussies nowadays are sheep and happily let the government and big business walk all over them - indeed they often assist in the task.

    Twisted individuals

I know some nice rock bars in a few creeks/rivers in the area of heavy rain - I think I may pay them a visit in a few weeks - have to do some real work first :(

    DCDC charger outputs

Don't touch Peltier devices with a 10' pole (or, indeed, an 8' Hungarian) they are rotten at general purpose cooling or heating and use lots of energy in order to be rotten. Their area of real use is in specialised cooling or heating situations (usually industrial) when energy consumption is not...

    The Storm is coming....

    >Have a look here how even a purpose built 4wd was destroyed in 10cm of water because he had no snorkle. >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QDSMnNqTWc It wasn't because he didn't have a snorkel. As you mention; if he had driven it at a sensible speed ie. walking pace rather than at a speed more...

    Today I COOKED.

And yesterday I made some mayonnaise. Forget the shop bought stuff - it's filled full of preservatives and has little flavour. Home made mayonnaise is easy to make, keeps for two weeks in the fridge and has both an excellent texture and flavour. It turns a basic sandwich into something people...

    Today I COOKED.

Lemonade Well... I didn't cook it! But you know what I mean :) Lemons from my own trees - it's a delightful drink on these hot days: From the ABC website By Brigid Treloar 27th January 2008 1 cup water 1 cup sugar 1 cup lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons) 4 cups cold water or soda water Extra...

    GPS Repair

I suspect your best bet is Garmin. Handheld GPS units are usually submersible so need specialised opening and resealing and, of course, the keypad matrix covers will be a Garmin only spare. Give Garmin a call, most manufacturers have a fixed price repair for these sorts of devices.

PLB - Personal Safety in the Bush

Or consider a KTI unit at $257. Designed in Melbourne by an Australian company. All PLBs (EPIRB et al) *must* meet an Australian standard in order to be sold here and they are tested to this end by an independent laboratory...

    G'day fellow diggers

Hi TTHTR and welcome. Of course you don't have to buy new; I recently sold a good condition SD2200 with new battery for $1450. If you're going to detect in the Golden Triangle of Victoria I'd suggest a PI detector. In less mineralised soil a cheaper VLF will be fine. I suggest you don't buy...
