Thats What I said there is no correlation between surface temp and seismic activity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
With the poor thermal conductivity of rock the heat that is generated with fault movement may heat up the surfaces in contact with each other but the fact that most earthquakes occur at...
no seismic activity there exfoliation is a weathering process and is commonly called spheroidal weathering. the link below sums it up well.

If all you need to do is stick a thermometer in the ground then why would anyone study geology. HAHAHAHAHA probably the funniest thing i have ever heard.
Looks good to me do a few more test you might get lucky. Gold can be patchy and tend to concentrate in certain areas along the quartz vein with barren areas so test in a number of spots too. the highest concentration of gold should be on the outer edges of the vein.
Stat by looking for the alteration zone on the fault. follow that along strike sampling. in order to provide answers more information will be needed like where is it located, what is the host rock in the area. Photos of ore samples could help depends on quality. geochemistry results would be...
Ramjet is correct alluvial gold is often a high purity as the silver is leached out by the time you find it. Though the region the gold comes from will dictate this, as a general rule Ballarat gold is close to 98% pure where as gold from the east of the state is closer to the 89% pure.
The AT gold can be set up to handle highly mineralized ground. The DVD provided takes you through this in a easy to follow process. For a entry level unit you cant really go wrong with a AT gold. As GD said its a big step up to the SDC2300 in price. So depends on your budget.

I have been told that Boral ran a gravel pit near Ballarat since they where not in the gold the just sold it as road base thus paving the roads with gold. They felt it was more effort that it was worth. The bluider of the must have found a similar type gravel pit operator.
what about the legal concerns??? In Victoria you are not simply aloud to drill a bore with out planning approval. Ground water is carefully controlled and you don't want to be the guy who contaminates a aquifer you cant afford the consequences.
hey as said before might be best just to get a coffee can furnace. you can get these on ebay and they work a treat.
