I love how many relics you find as well as the occasional Silver and Predecimals... :) :D :Y:

The coins are really a bonus on a day out, the relics hold more interest with respect to the history of certain sites. After a while you can really piece together a good picture on how life used to be in the 1800's/early 1900's going off what is found.

Managed to pick up a new Deus Low frequency 9" coil today for a measly $150, should compliment the 9" HF coil for covering most areas. The store that sold it had them at 70% discount in limited numbers, so not sure how any are left at this stage.

The 9" coils really are such a joy to swing due to the lack of weight, they punch pretty deep for their size and achieve much better target separation over the 11" coil. The other reason for liking the LF coil is for the 18kHz frequency which for me is a good all-rounder, and less prone to EMI vs 14kHz on the HF coil.

I was looking at the X35 9" coil, though now feel I have a decent spread of frequencies between the two 9" coils, not to mention the optional offsets, plus also have the 11" and 13x11" coils reserved for more open ground.

Out with the LF 11" coil today to cover a bit more ground and also infill any gaps missed by the 9" HF coil. Still plenty of finds indicating an older site within a more modern one, the two SA dog tags pretty much confirmed that, both dating from 1903-1904. The pocket watch half is only silver plate unfortunately, no silvers this time around, just an odd 1948 cent from the Netherlands an a 1936 penny used for target practice. The small enamelled medallion looks to be religion related. :D

I like the shot penny also. In fact, i'd be quite happy detecting that site. :rainbow: Looking at those relics is akin to staring at the fire, lets the mind relax and reflect. Great pickup GP. :perfect:

Thanks for the comments guys, it's a bit hit & miss with some of these sites, plenty of walking around done testing ground for older finds. I did find another house site nearby, though it was throwing up more modern gear and BB's dating from 1966 onwards. Clues to such sites usually come in the form of non-native flora - bulbs etc, or if lucky you might see some fragments of ceramics and older glass lying around. Most of the large buckles found originated from what appeared to be a bottle dump, not a good spot for the old fingers.

All over the place regarding depth, ranging from a couple of inches down to maybe 10 inches. Depth is limited in some places due to iron contamination, though generally the Deus can pull some pretty deep targets around here due to the sandy low-mineralised soil.

Hello, Gold Pick, could you please let me know which shop was selling 9 inch coil for such a lo price.
Thanks

No worries I find it! They also have 2nd hand 11 inch for $50! That is sick! ANd they still got some 9 inches left! I might get one! :argh:

That's crazy Capa, just saw that 2nd hand LF coil for $50, better be quick - 91% markdown. I recieved the new 9" LF coil this morning, brand spanking new down from $480 to $150, will run it through an update to ensure it is on the same page as the other three coils.
