Go gentle on the 1948 sixpence, sharpish star and lots of feathers, recon it's got good coin potential written all over it.
nice old silver there, great looking hunt. :p 8) :D

It's coming along nicely. Leave it for the night and clean a bit more in the morning.

Thought I'd try the beach after the big weather we've had. I hit Nobby's first and was just poking around when SinHof showed up. We decided to try a nice cutaway that looked promising but someone had been there before us. From the amount of dig marks they found a fair bit of something.
I ran the Deus in Beachgold whigh is a variation of the Gold fields program. A bit like a PI machine it hums until it hears metal then pings on it. Now discrim so I dig everything. If I had been prepared to get wet I would have done better because there were a lot of coins in the surf zone.

Got my first pre decimal from a beach. .. roo penny.

Evening Ramjet,
Looks like you hung in there after I headed south and did pretty well, coins in the surf, might be well worth a look when things settle down.
Not too much joy for me from today's hunt, still got the L plates on with the 3030, better luck next time out.
Cheers, SinHof.

Seems I wasn't the only one hitting the beaches today. After night shift I headed for one of the eroded beaches. I only had about an hour and a half as the rising tide chased me away. I was happy with the amount of coins I found and I even had a few pennies, goldies and the usual bbs. When I started to clean my coins I found the 1 of my "1 cent pieces" was actually silver. Hang on a sec.... 4 of them are smaller than the others. Boom. Four x threepences. Sweet :D one is 1958 and 2 others are the wheat design, can't see the other yet. Pennies are 2 x roos and 2 1/2 commonwealth of Australia.
Another Transport union badge and I think it's 1948. One of the pennies was about 50 to 60 cm deep.

Good to see that the storms have managed to wash out some older goodies from the depths RJ. Hopefully the odd piece of gold/silver jewellery will also be waiting to be found as well. ;)

probably been mentioned somewhere else on the forum but is the program you're calling "goldbeach" good in wet sand or only dry and if it's not a rude question, what are the specs?

There are 2 factory pre set beach settings.... Dry beach and Wet beach. I used the Wet beach on my last hunt but I have been using a program called Beachgold which is a modified version of the Goldfield pre set program. Changes to the Goldfield program as follows:

Disc IAR 0
Tone Freq 533
Reactivity 1
Sensitivity 90
TX 2 ( I like to run the TX and sensitivity at full power unless the ground is too noisy then I drop it a little).

Thanks for that. I use wet beach a lot but tend not to bother with dry beach much. I have more luck in the dry using my custom setting which is pretty much basic one with a few changes.

beach gold, its a factory preset

It is? Is there a new update?

It's a modified gold program from Andy Sabisch's book, to focus mainly on gold jewellery whilst achieving maximum depth and sensitivity on small targets - low reactivity & silencer settings, tracking GB and high frequencies for low conductor gold targets. As a part of that program, the audio response is meant to be set quite high to pick up on small targets, though only if it runs stable enough to do so. All the tone settings and breakpoints are mentioned in the book, with the mid tone gold range assigned the highest tone. :)
